If you want a guaranteed place to run in the Virgin London Marathon and raise money for charity - you need one of our Gold Bond places. If you have your own place and would like to raise money for a very worthy cause then join us too. Every year The Lord's Taverners enters a team into the London Marathon. We had over 50 participants in the 2009 race.

Each team member receives spectacular benefits making them the envy of many other runners.

  • A welcome pack including a comprehensive training programme, a guide to fundraising, newsletters and an information sheet about the charity to help make raising money easy!
  • The opportunity to raise money online with Everyday Hero, our new online fundraising partner.
  • Monthly newsletters with top tips for training by our team trainer who will be happy to offer support on-line. Our fully qualified Team Trainer has a degree in Human Biology and a diploma in Fitness Training and Sports Therapy specialising in running and has completed 12 marathons himself! He will provide training schedules to help you along the way as well as running tips and advice on injuries.
  • A chance to meet all the other runners in our team at a motivational talk given by our team captain in Central London.
  • A complimentary running kit which includes a technical running vest, sweat shirt and Lord's Taverners cap.

  • Organised training runs in the South of England.
  • As our offices are just near the finish line and we invite all our runners to come back here after the Marathon to enjoy our special recovery facility: this includes a glass of champagne upon arrival (or tea and coffee if you prefer!), a massage from one of our fully qualified Sports Therapists, energy snacks and a shower so you can freshen up.
  • Marathon Party - we hold a huge party on the day of the London Marathon, held at a pub close to our office, which is free to all of our runners. Your family and friends are all welcome to come along too - tickets are now on sale (£25 per adult, £15 for children) and include a drink and hot lunch per person. The pub is open from 11am until 10pm so can be used as a base for those who want to support you. We show live coverage of the Marathon on big screens throughout the day.

Fundraising Challenges

We encourage and support anyone who wishes to take on a fundraising challenge on our behalf. We receive donations from people taking on challenges as diverse as a sponsored beard shaving to distance runs and the Three-Peaks Challenge.
