ANOTHER AMAZING SARK WEEKEND
The weekend began in spectacular style with a Champagne reception, sponsored by Greville Mitchell OBE, in the beautiful grounds of the privately owned Castle Carey, courtesy of Taverners supporters Roy and Linda Clegg. Saturday was also special with a reception held at Government House, hosted by the Queen’s local representative, The Lieutenant Governor, Sir Fabian Malbon KBE and Lady Malbon, for our visiting guests. The evening included a very brief repeat of the ‘Tarrant Giant Quiz’, hosted by the man himself. Taverners and guests alike were treated to a very special performance by the incredible Toyah Wilcox who delivered some of her greatest hits to a highly appreciative audience.
The ‘Amazing Sark Weekend’ culminated in the key cricket match. The game was played, as ever, in an atmosphere of fun but with a significant degree of competitiveness - especially from Sark's youngsters! With the final score being Sark 105 for eight after 20 overs, Taverners 106 for six. Both Chris Tarrant & Mike Gatting gained a couple of wickets and Lorraine Chase was (once again!) shown how to wield the bat by Mike Gatting.
Ambassador Ricky Groves played a massive role during the whole weekend, assisting with the auctions and of course donning his whites! World renowned wildlife artist David Shepherd also contributed - as ever - generously to the Region’s fundraising during the weekend.
