Sticky Wicket Seven-a-Side Tournament, Regents Park, NW1

Sticky Wicket II – a stickier wicket!
We were very lucky to be blessed with a glorious summer day for the second outing of Sticky Wicket on the 30th July 2008 in Regents Park. Over  200 of the great and the good from the Exhibition & Events industry turned out for our 7-a-side event to enjoy plenty of Pimm's, networking and watch some hugely entertaining cricket -  this years teams comprised of  Reed Exhibitions, Spaceworks, CMPi,  Gallowglass, ExCeL London, Early Action Group, Melville and Earls Court and Olympia Group.

We were joined for the day by Colin Salmon, Manish Bhasin, Brendan Cole and Charlie Ross who played for various teams during the day with gusto! John Price stood for a game or two in the searing heat, and then sensibly retired back to his seat in the shade.

The eight teams were split into two groups of four, and after playing each other within their group, a competitive final was played between Spaceworks and CMPi which Spaceworks won to lift the Sticky Wicket Trophy.

Following the conclusion of the cricket Sir Jeremy Hanley, President of the Middlesex Region, presented all those that hit sixes with House of Commons cufflinks. Colin Salmon conducted the raffle and presented the winning trophy to Spaceworks.  The event was a huge success, great fun and £20,000 was raised on the day.

Thanks go to the committee for organising the event, especially Gwynn Evans, Anna Anson, Vicki Evans and Mervyn Ramsay, and of course the sponsors and teams that played so competitively, and in such good spirit, throughout the day.

Let's hope that Sticky Wicket III is even more successful!
