The game started in bright sunshine and was concluded in the rain. The Lord Taverners team stuck it out – with half Stratford on Avon’s overs played in light rain!

The Club produced a picturesque facility with a good pitch. Wayne Larkins showed some of his old class in scoring 57 and Paul Tisdale, Colin Salmon and Chris Pennell showed that they are very able cricketers, with Don Goodman being excellent in the field.

Had it not been for a last wicket stand of 30 being scored, we may have been home a lot earlier and the total of 182 was reasonably competitive. But due to the driving rain we were forced off the ground and then ended up in a restricted match with Stratford having a reduced score to achieve in 20 overs - they did this with 2 balls to spare. A good day was held by all – with superb lunch and teas in a lovely marquee and some 300 odd spectators turned up in support.

We would like to thank Stratford on Avon CC for staging the match and especially Jeremy Rhodes, who has worked single handedly in putting the whole event together. My thanks for my team for agreeing to play and making the day worthwhile!
