Lady Taverners help with the first Chester Marathon 10-Oct-2011
Chester's first ever Marathon has just taken place, Tracy Warrington secretary of the Chester and North Wales committee offered to get a team of friends and Lady Taverners to man the first water station, as the route that passed outside her home. The Cheshire and North Wales committee of Lady Taverners are to be the recipients of a Cheque for £250 for the Charity from the Marathon organisers. It was a manic event; However lots of fun said Tracy. Lori Parker Chairman of the Region and Chris Talbot founder of the committee were only too happy to lend a hand.

RAMBLES RAISES CASH 08-Jun-2011
Supporters of The Lord’s Taverners met at Tatton Park, Knutsford for ‘The Rhododendron Ramble’.
The walk involved a tour of the gardens with Sam Youd, head gardener at Tatton Park, followed by lunch in the Lord Egerton Apartments.
Mark Haworth, events manager for The Lord’s Taverners, said “It was a wonderful event, a lovely sunny day with a very interesting tour of the gardens with Sam. After lunch he gave an amusing and informative talk that everyone enjoyed.
“And we raised more than £1000 for the charity, which is fantastic”.

THE LORD'S & LADY TAVERNERS PRESENT CHEQUE AND BAG PACK AT TESCO MANCHESTER 07-Jun-2011
The Lord's Taverners arrived at Tesco Metro in Stretford, Manchester, on Saturday 4 June, to help customers with their shopping and raise a couple of hundred pounds Charity. The bag packers were joined by staff for a cheque presentation. The £1,700 cheque represents a donation from Tesco Charity Trust to support The Lord’s Taverners’ iconic national table cricket competition. Table Cricket, which is played on a table tennis surface with specially designed bats and balls, enables young people with disabilities and special needs the chance to enjoy cricket and represent their school on a competitive basis. Oakfield School’s team won the North West heat at Old Trafford on 6 April to reach the national finals at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 17 June.

LADY TAVERNERS AWARENESS LUNCH 26-May-2011
The Lady Taverners Chester & North Wales committee held a fundraising lunch at the home of committee member Julie Austin-Kaye to raise awareness of The Lady Taverners in the Region.
The lunch raised £300 from a raffle, which will help fund a fun day for children at the Home Farm Trust in Cheshire.
Chairman Lori Wilkins-Parker said the girls donated all the food. It was a feast to behold and a lovely occasion for us to thank supporters and new friends alike.

THE LORD'S TAVERNERS SPORTING DINNER 2010 08-Mar-2011
The 17th Liverpool sporting dinner was held at the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool on 25 November. More than 300 guests attended, raising in excess of £18,000. An auction was held including prizes such as a Ryder Cup Montage, signed by the World's No1 golfer Lee Westwood, a Come Dine Experience with Paul Askew of the London Carriage Works, a helicopter flying lesson and a £2,000 pendant from Liverpool jewellers Boodles.
The compere on the night was auctioneer Roger Dakin supported by ex-Arsenal and England footballer Paul Merson and comedian Miles Jupp. Since its launch in 1993 the Liverpool dinner has raised almost £300,000.

THE LADY TAVERNERS MINIBUS PRESENTATION TO RUSSETT SCHOOL 07-Mar-2011
Lori Wilkins-Parker and Edward Greenhalgh presented a minibus to Russet School Nantwich in January.The School Head Mrs.Catherine Lewis gratefully accepted the keys. Afterward, Catherine Wantling who is the Chair of the Friends of Russett School fund raising thanked the Taverners with the following heart felt words. 'Our world is about working together as a team and never has the world come together more perfectly than today for all of us to celebrate each other and the success we have achieved in obtaining this minibus from the Lady Taverners and I would like you to accept my thanks on behalf of the Russett School.' Energised by her words we then celebrated with the students, faculty, and friends with a delicious lunch the students had arranged for us.

Over 60 business people from The North West supported The Lord’s Taverners by attending the Dewi Morris Curry Lunch
in November. Guests were able to hear stories from former Manchester City player Mike Summerbee, before listening to
the comic genius of Billy Bean. The event was a huge success and raised over £400 for the charity.

high profile businessmen and women from across the North West attended the event which was hosted by Mark Blakemore, Managing Partner of Baker Tilly in Manchester and North West Chairman of the Lord’s Taverners. Dominic Tinner of The Seashell Trust spoke about how The Lord’s Taverners have supported the trust over many years and the benefits they have received as a consequence.

THE LADY TAVERNERS LANCASHIRE REGION 2010 ROUND UP! 22-Feb-2011
2010 was a milestone for the Lancashire Ladies as they hit the £100,000 mark since their reformation in 2006. Last year, Hilary Bowker’s husband cycled from lands end to Jon O Groats raising £6500 and the Christmas Lunch raised just over £3,000.
The Ladies are looking forward to the year ahead with their annual fun day in May, where they take 200 chilldren and carers to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the day, courtesy of the Thompson family.

THE LADY TAVERNERS PRESENT MINIBUS TO ST. CHRISTOPHER’S SCHOOL - 11TH FEBRUARY 2011 14-Feb-2011
Sadly Gary Speed was unable to join TV presenter and comedian, Nick Hancock, the newly-crowned President of The Lord’s Taverners North West Region of The lords Taverners, on which was Nicks first official presentation, after taking over from Lord Francis Stafford when he stood down. Wrexham born Actor Tim Vincent thrilled the children from the school by his visit..
St. Christopher’s School supports 240 youngsters aged 4 to 19 with a range of profound physical and learning difficulties. The school focuses on teaching social independence as well as providing a wide programme of educational opportunities.
Nick Hancock Tim Vincent and June Foster the widow of the late Drew Foster. Presented The 16-seater wheelchair accessible minibus, costing £48,000, to pupils and teachers from the school. The minibus will play a vital role in giving the Wrexham youngsters far better access to the local area’s amenities and specialist facilities.
The bus is dedicated to the memory of Drew Foster owner and chairman of ITC, The Chester Tour Operator. Drew was a great supporter of The Taverners raising a great deal on money for them. He was also a lifelong supporter of Wrexham FC, it is a fitting tribute that the Mini Bus dedicated to him goes to a school in Wrexham.
The Lady Taverners is part of The Lord’s Taverners, the official Charity of recreational cricket and one of the UK’s leading youth sports and disability Charities that is dedicated to give young people, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance. The Lord’s Taverners donates one minibus every 10 days to organisations such as St. Christopher’s School.
Chris Talbot former Northwest Chairman, now a member of Lady Taverners National Council said “We are so thrilled to be able to help St Christopher’s School; The Lady Taverners have been a supporter of them for many years. Maxine Pittaway Head of the School and her assistant Richard Williams, really do an amazing job, The pupils travel from all over North Wales and part of Shropshire to attend the school. There is always a happy atmosphere in the there. I feel The Taverners Charity is so very special as we get to meet the young people we are helping. They inspire us to go on and do more fund raising The Lords and Lady Taverners raise money to give young people particularly those with special needs a sporting chance..

THE LADY TAVERNERS RHINO CHARGE AT ICELAND 07-Dec-2010
Mr Malcolm Walker CBE, founder and CEO of Iceland Frozen Foods, on the Deeside Industrial Estate, Flintshire. Sponsored one of the Rhinos featured in Chester’s Rhino Charge, for the Lady Taverners. The Rhinos raised a great deal of money for many different charities. , during the summer organised by Chester Renaissance
The Lady Taverners Rhino named Banana Split was one of the prettiest Rhinos in the City Said “Chris Talbot, Council member of the national Lady Taverners. Malcolm has been so generous, The Lady Taverners committee, were invited to the Deeside offices of Iceland frozen to see their Rhino take pride of place in the reception area. Malcolm Walker met them and handed the Charity a cheque for £3.000. It is becoming a lot harder to raise money. This will go a long way toward us buying a mini Bus and sports equipment for disabled and disadvantaged children in Cheshire and North Wales. I have known Mr Walker for many years Chris went on to say. He is always incredibly generous.
The biggest treat, was for the committee members to go shopping in the factory Supermarket. All Mums, they had all gone to Iceland. We spend so long working hard to raise money Said “Lori Parker it was great for the girls to have some fun and do the weekly shop at the same time.

THE LADY TAVERNERS CHRISTMAS LUNCH, THE PAVILION CHESTER RACECOURSE - 23RD NOVEMBER 2010 01-Dec-2010
The Lady Taverners held a Christmas Lunch and Fair at Chester Racecourse, in the Owners and Trainers Room, raising in excess of £5.000. To give young people particularly those with special needs a sporting chance.
To help with the festivities children from Dee Banks Special needs School came along in the mini bus bought for them by the Lords and Lady Taverners. Ray Elliot Head of Dee Banks spoke about how much the Bus means to the children, enabling to get out too see and do things that would be impossible without it.
Abbey Gate Choir entertained 190 guests with Carols. Stewart Smith the Director of Music at Abbey Gate conducted them. They were amazing said Cheshire & North Wales Chair of The Lady Taverners and organiser of the event Lori Parker. The committee have worked so hard to ensure everything was perfect she went on to say.
There was a real Christmas market feel about the occasion with many Stalls selling Christmas gifts, giving the event a really nice start to the Christmas season. Said Lori
