THE LORD'S TAVERNERS CHOSEN FOR GIDMAN BENEFIT YEAR

05-Oct-2011

The Lord's Taverners are delighted to announce that Alex Gidman, Gloucestershire CCC captain for the last two seasons, has chosen  the Charity for his 2012 benefit year.

A product of Painswick CC, Wycliffe College in Stonehouse and Hatherley and Reddings CC, Gidman made his Gloucestershire debut in 2002 and said he was ‘delighted and honoured’ to be awarded a benefit year. “It is an incredible honour to represent Gloucestershire, to pull on the shirt and follow in the line of some of the world’s greatest ever cricketers by playing for the county,” Gidman said. “So to be awarded a benefit year is a tremendously humbling experience but one I am looking forward to very much – it’s a great honour and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me achieve what I have in the game.”

Gidman’s testimonial committee will launch a website that will contain news, information and events and Gidman added: “There will be some great events planned for next year and hopefully a few things that are a little bit different. It is as much about me saying thank you to the supporters who have been so loyal over the years so I hope there will be a few laughs, some great nights and lots of fun.”

On choosing The Lord's Taverners as his Charity, Gidman said: "It's a great organisation and the money raised goes towards something very special in my opinion"

THE LADY TAVERNERS PRESENTATION TO BRISTOL SAILABILITY - 29TH OCTOBER 2010

01-Nov-2010

Friday 29th October 2010 in The Cumberland Basin to Bristol Sailability.

We presented the cheque to Mike Evans who is the Bristol Sailability Organiser and the driving force for the group. He is a very dynamic man.

Dawn Primarolo MP for Bristol South cut ribbon to officially launch the ‘Wheely Boat’ and christened the boat with a specially commission piece of Bristol Blue glass filled with water. The Lord’s Taverners provided the bespoke canopy for the boat, which was made incidentally by a local company. The boat has our logo on it, and I am told that a new and much larger logo will be made and fitted to the roof of the canopy soon.

The canopy has extended the usage of the boat, which enables wheelchair users to get out onto the water and even helm the boat with ease. The canopy will ensure that the boat can be sailed in all weathers and for much longer distances as it gives complete cover and throughout the year. This is a huge step forward.

We launched the boat and then celebrated with cake and sparkling wine!
