Welsh Charity donates Sporting Equipment to Pembrokeshire School

04-Oct-2011

The Lord’s Taverners Wales Region has presented a Haverfordwest secondary school with cricket bags in a bid to encourage the children to get active.

Pupils at Sir Thomas Picton were recently presented with the Kwik Cricket Bags as a donation from the sporting charity as part of its pledge to give disadvantaged children the chance to get involved in sport.

Head teacher Mrs Bessant of Sir Thomas Picton said: “The cricket bags mean a lot to the school as pupils can use them at break time and during their physical education lessons. It will teach them to work in a team and learn how to play cricket while still having fun and keeping fit. We thank The Lord’s Taverners for their support.”

Chairman of the Lord’s Taverners Wales Region, Ed Meggitt, said: “It was a pleasure to donate the Kwik Cricket Bags to the school. This is what the charity is all about and it’s what makes all the hard work that everyone involved puts in, worthwhile.”

The Lord’s Taverners charity was set up in 1950 by a group of friends and cricket enthusiasts. They aim to give children, particularly those with special needs, a ‘sporting chance’, by providing sporting equipment, minibuses, grants and donations.
