TAVERNERS CHRISTMAS LUNCHES ARE A FESTIVE SUCCESS
It was the hottest ticket in town – The Lord’s Taverners Wales Christmas lunches held over 3 days at the Cardiff Marriott Hotel in December 2012.
Guests at the lunches were treated to a fabulous four course meal and top entertainment. The lunches raised in excess of £30,000.
TV and radio star Mike Osman compered the lunches and was joined by such acts as the stunning beat-boxing electric string quartet Stringfever, comedy impressionist Leslie Gibson and top British stand-up comedians Jethro and Milton Jones.
An auction and raffle also took place at each lunch, with an impressive range of items ranging from top cricket match tickets to golfing holidays.
The lunches were well supported by the cricketing community with Lord’s Taverners Wales President, and former England captain, Tony Lewis present for all three. Mike Gatting, Peter Walker, Steve James and current Glamorgan captain Mark Wallace were just some of the star cricketers in attendance.
Ed Meggitt, chairman of The Lord’s Taverners Wales said: “Tickets for the 20012 Christmas Lunches were an almost instant sell out, we had a great line up of comedians and musicians including Jethro – one of the UK’s top comic acts.
The generosity of all those who attended made sure these were one of our most successful Christmas events for a while.”
