Judith Chalmers presents new minibus to West Sussex youngsters with disabilities
Broadcast legend and President Emeritus of the Lady Taverners, Judith Chalmers OBE, joined representatives of luxury cruise line, Seabourn, last week (1 May 2015) to officially hand over a new 16-seat wheelchair accessible minibus to staff and pupils of the Lavinia Norfolk Centre at Angmering School in Littlehampton, West Sussex.
The minibus has been made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of Seabourn’s UK team, who have enjoyed a long and close association with Judith. The television presenter and travel guru Judith, perhaps best known for her role as presenter of ITV’s ‘Wish you Were Here…?’ travel programme, has been an integral part of Seabourn’s fundraising efforts.
Fundraising is one of Seabourn’s core values, and the company has been raising funds for a number of years to provide a Lady Taverners minibus for a school or community project.
The Lavinia Norfolk Centre is a special support centre within Angmering Sports and Science Specialist School that caters for 95 students aged 11-18, many of which are wheelchair users. The centre enables students with severe or life threatening physical disabilities or medical conditions to be fully included in the school.
Lynn Narraway, Seabourn’s Managing Director, UK & Ireland and herself a Lady Taverner, said: “As a cruise line visiting hundreds of destinations every year, we know that travel experiences are vital to everyone’s personal development and growth. We are so thrilled to have raised enough funds for a minibus and we hope that this facility will offer some fantastic travel opportunities for the students at the Angmering School.”
