Birmingham and Hull youngsters book place at Lord's finals
Congratulations to St Mary’s College (Hull) and the Wilson Stuart School (Birmingham) who this week booked their places at the finals of the 2016 National Table Cricket Competition.
On Monday at Edgbaston, eight teams battled it out to win a place in this year's finals day at Lord’s on June 24. Wilson Stuart and Selly Oak won through to the final of the competition but it was the 264-2 total from Wilson Stuart that saw them to a 44-run victory.
Congratulations also to the other schools and colleges who took part in the regional Birmingham heat. They were: Fairfax, Victoria, Regency, Brooke, Penn Hall and Sherborne Fields.
On Tuesday, the action moved to Durham, and St Mary’s College A went through the competition unbeaten and won against their own B team in the final by 14 runs where 261-5 played 247-5. Oxclose Community College were a close third.
Further heats are being held in Newmarket (12 May) before the action moves to Grace Road and Old Trafford next week with the Lord’s final taking place on 24 June.
