Parky and Bumble fundraiser helps to get new minibus on the road
Members and guests at last week’s President’s Lunch have helped put a brand new Lord’s Taverners minibus on the road thanks to their kind donations.
Nearly £60,000 was raised at the event at Lord’s and the generosity of the 400 guests means a school or project will receive a new specially-adapted iconic green minibus.
More details of where the new minibus will be headed will be announced in due course, but we’d like to say thank you to all those who attended the lunch and helped make this possible.
The guests were also treated to some fantastic stories as Taverners President Sir Michael Parkinson interviewed Sky Sports Cricket commentator David Lloyd about his early life in Lancashire through to his playing days and coaching the England team.
Since 1976, the Lord’s Taverners has placed over 1,100 accessible minibuses across schools in the UK. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first minibus giveaway, and to celebrate this, the charity will be giving away a record 40 minibuses in 2016. The iconic Lord’s Taverners minibuses provide young disadvantaged and disabled people with the chance to engage with their local community by getting more access to the facilities on offer and build important life skills in the process.
