Players of People’s Postcode Lottery help fund minibus for Worthing youngsters
The Lord’s Taverners were in Worthing on Monday (18 July) to present a new wheelchair accessible minibus to Oak Grove College.
Thanks to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery whose generosity has helped to provide the new 14-seater minibus, pupils at the school will be able to use the bus as a vital lifeline to get out and experience their local community.
Oak Grove College is a secondary and sixth form education establishment for pupils with special educational needs.
Head Teacher at Oak Grove College, Phillip Potter, said: “The impact of having this bus is immediate. It means that we’ve got young people who can go out straight away. We’ve got over 250 students here and it’s really important for us that we are out and about in our local community as often as possible.
“On behalf of Oak Grove College, the staff, the students and the governors, we really want to thank everybody who’s been involved in supporting and raising the money; that’s the friends of Oak Grove, the Lord’s Taverners and the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery because this new minibus will make a huge difference to the pupils.”
Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally, and their support of the Lord’s Taverners has helped provide the new minibus for Oak Grove College.
Clara Govier, Head of Charities of People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “The Lord’s Taverners make such a difference to the lives of so many young people through sport and we are delighted that players of People’s Postcode Lottery are able to support them with funding.”
