Pearl Sunday Lunch at Orsett Hall
It was one of those glorious English Summer days, where the beautiful grounds and gardens of Orsett Hall were bathed in sunshine. Within the premises, music played in the Gold Room and a gentleman strutted his stuff in the centre of the dancefloor, his mind fully concentrated on every step he took. All around him ladies formed a circle doing their own thing, hips a-swaying, arms a-flaying. This was an opportunity to cast aside any inhibitions and demonstrate our dance skills, yeah! And why shouldn’t we? We were determined to enjoy ourselves, for this was our Pearl Sunday Lunch, our second event in Essex to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Lady Taverners.
For entertainment, we were delighted to have with us Maddie Cole, a very talented singer, musician, – we were enthralled by her wonderful and beautiful vocals. Our 73 guests were served a reception drink on arrival, kindly sponsored by Essex Ford, and a three course lunch with wine.
Everyone appeared in high spirits, laughing and enjoying themselves immensely with friends and family. We laughed even more during a game of heads and tails introduced by Chrissie Walker-Hebborn.
To sum up the event, in her final speech Linda thanked everyone for their support, namely Maddie Cole, who had been accompanied by her mum; the staff of Orsett Hall; Roger and Heather for their help setting up; Essex Motors; Joyce for making special gifts for us to mark the occasion. Finally she thanked all those who came and gave support to the charity on a day which raised almost £1,000 for the cause.
