Taverners legend Nicholas Parsons receives lifetime achievement award

Congratulations to Taverners stalwart Nicholas Parsons OBE, who has been honoured at the 2012 Sony Radio Academy Awards where he was presented with The Gold Award.

The lifetime achievement award, which recognises people for a substantive body of work, was presented to Nicholas in recognition of his lifetime of professionalism in radio and in particular his outstanding and total commitment to Just a Minute, a programme that Nicholas brilliantly presented for an amazing 45 years.

Nicholas, a long term supporter and President of the Taverners in 1999, has also produced and directed a short film, which follows the Taverners XI celebrity cricket teams fundraising exploits from Blenheim Palace to the Greek island of Corfu and RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire. Introduced by the late, great Eric Morecambe, another former President of The Lord's Taverners, the film features the cricketing talents of John Cleese, Willie Rushton, John Price, SIr Tim Rice and Nicholas Parsons himself.
