Outdoor play spaces

There are currently over 800,000 children under the age of 16 in the UK with a disability or a long-term medical condition. Improvements in medical science have seen a significant increase in children surviving premature birth, often resulting in ongoing complex health conditions.

We believe it is essential for special schools catering for children with severe learning and physical disabilities to have access to suitable outdoor play equipment. ‘Play time’ is proven to improve children’s physical and mental health, help develop emotional responses and learning skills and improving basic numeracy and literacy.

Since 2009 the Lord’s Taverners has provided outdoor play equipment to 83 special schools, benefiting nearly 8,000 pupils.

Outdoor Playspace Programmes

Throughout 2016 the Lord’s Taverners will be looking to support up to four projects with major grants towards outdoor play spaces. Our focus will be on supporting schools who cater for children with special needs.

The Lord’s Taverners will be pro-active in approaching schools and will thoroughly research and select potential projects who will then be invited to apply.

As a result we will not accept unsolicited applications.

Please note your form will be rejected if it is incomplete.
