Past Presidents 1950 - 1959
One of the UK’s best loved entertainers Sir Harry was a star of the Stage, Screen, TV and Radio. He is probably best remembered for his role in 'The Goons' but also is well known for presenting 'Highway' and 'Songs of Praise'. He had a fine tenor voice and made his name as a singer with 'This is my song' reached number 2 in the British pop charts in 1967. In 1981 he wrote his first novel 'Welsh Fargo'. Ronnie Corbett OBE 1982 and 1987 Ronnie was one half of comedic duo 'The Two Ronnies' and was "discovered" by Sir David Frost. He has also published a variety of books including 'Ronnie Corbett’s Armchair Golf' and is active as an after dinner speaker. Terry Wogan 1983-84 Terry is a TV and Radio broadcaster who hosted the BBC chat show 'Wogan' in the 80’s and early 90’s as well as 'Blankety Blank', 'Come Dancing' and 'Celebrity Squares'. He is the regular presenter of The Eurovision Song Contest and for years presented 'Miss World'. In 1978 had a hit record with 'The Floral Dance' that peaked at number 21 in the charts. David Frost 1985-86 TV Broadcaster and interviewer who fronted ‘That Was The Week That Was’ now does 'Breakfast With Frost' on Sunday mornings. He has interviewed many famous people including the last 6 British Prime ministers and the last 6 US Presidents. Outside of politics he has interviewed greats including Muhammad Ali, Mick Jagger, Orson Wells and Tenessee Williams. His interview with US President Richard Nixon after his post Watergate resignation achieved the largest audience for a news interview in history. Sir David has also written 15 books and produced 8 films. Sir Tim Rice 1988-90 and 2000 Sir Tim is a world famous lyricist who, in collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Webber, was responsible for the musical sensations of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat', 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Evita' and 'Chess'. He was formerly the lead singer for a pop group called the Aardvarks in the early 60’s. More recently he wrote the lyrics for other hit musicals such as The Lion King and Aida. In 1981 Sir Tim launched his own publishing company Pavilion Books.Honours include three Oscars and the Presidency of MCC (2003).
