Warwickshire renew charitable partnership with Lord's Taverners
Lord's Taverners has renewed its partnership with Warwickshire County Cricket Club to continue as one of their three official charity partners for 2014 and 2015.
The charity has been working with Warwickshire CCC for several years and the new deal confirms Edgbaston’s new banqueting suite as the venue for the charity’s annual Eve of Test Dinner and Christmas Sporting Lunch. The partnership also includes several hospitality and ticket donations from the club to drive fundraising opportunities.
Gareth Roberts, commercial director at Edgbaston, said: "The Lord's Taverners is one of the most famous cricket charities in the world, and does a fantastic job in creating opportunities for disadvantaged and disabled young people.'
“The club is already working hard to grow cricketing opportunities in the local community, whether it be playing the game, volunteering in a club or watching the Bears at Edgbaston. Working with the Lord's Taverners enhances this work and we’re thrilled to continue making a substantial contribution to the charity for at least the next two years.”
In addition to hosting events and donations, the club also hosts the final of the Warwickshire Taverners Trophy, which raised more than £2,000 last year through a corporate cricket competition, that West Midlands businesses play in over the summer.
Matthew Weaver, co-chairman of the Lord's Taverners West Midlands, said: “Working with one of the leading cricket clubs and venues in the UK is a great boost for the Lord's Taverners.'
“The facilities in the new south stand at Edgbaston and its central location make it the perfect venue for entertaining our partners and staging fundraising dinners. We’re delighted by this announcement and hope to continue this partnership with Warwickshire CCC for the foreseeable future.”
