Lady Taverners take Sussex by storm
On 28 April the chairman of the Kent and East Sussex region, Laura Collins, visited the Eastbourne Academy where she presented some Kwik Cricket equipment to the Headmaster, Mr Palethorpe, and to Mr Bowles, Head of Sport.
The School has made amazing achievements in sport and the equipment was well received.
The next day the sun shone down on the third day of the Sussex v Somerset County Championship match where 160 guests attended the third Brighton Lady Taverners lunch, the first to be held at the Sussex County Ground.
James Potten, the business development manager, had attended the successful Lady Taverners Lunch in the Hotel du Vin last year and saw that we were struggling for space and suggested that we came to the ground. What a great idea. All the guests were given cocktails, sponsored by Exquisite Cocktails, on arrival and personalised cocktails were made throughout the day. The first ones were pink, of course!
Jo Jo’s from Brighton were on hand to judge the ‘best dressed’ and to bring some of their fashions to the event. We had a lovely lunch, followed in the afternoon by tea sponsored by Dreamy Cakes.
Tony Cottey MC’d the event and our guest speaker, interviewed by Tony, was Sussex CCC and England Women’s Ashes winner, Sarah Taylor. Sue Pocklington of Humphrey and Co and Lara Squires from Consortium were the main sponsors, so thanks must go to all these people for a great event.
They seemed to like us so much we are hoping to be there next year. Thank you to Hove and all the team as well as actor Chris Ellison who supported us yet again.
What is very nice is that in two days we gave some cricket equipment away and when Laura stood up to speak the next day she said how good it was to come straight from somewhere where the money raised today was being used.
It was a bumper raffle which helped raise over £2,000. Thank you to all those who attended and helped to make a difference.
