Barnstaple youngsters get welcome boost from new minibus

Pupils at Lampard Community School in Barnstaple is the latest school to have received a new wheelchair accessible minibus during the 40th anniversary of the minibus programme.

Lampard Community school caters for pupils aged 5 to 16 with complex learning difficulties and staff and pupils were presented with the new minibus last week.

Since 1976, the Lord’s Taverners has provided over 1,110 accessible minibuses for schools throughout the UK. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first minibus donation, and to celebrate this, the charity will be giving away a record 40 minibuses in 2016.

The iconic Lord’s Taverners minibuses provide disadvantaged and disabled young people with the chance to engage with their local community by getting more access to the facilities on offer and build important life skills in the process.
