Marathon heroes show they can take the heat

More than 40,000 inspirational runners took on the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon, with 35 of them running it for the Lord's Taverners.

All would have prepared for the mammoth challenge by training during the winter months, having to encounter snow and freezing temperatures for large parts of it, on their quest to complete the 26.2 mile course around London whilst raising valuable funds.

It was not ideal, therefore, on Marathon Day that temperatures reached just over 24 degrees!

This made it the hottest London Marathon on record and makes us appreciate our Marathon runners even more. Congratulations to every single one of our 35 runners for completing the course! A miraculous effort by all involved, which in the long run will help give more disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance.

Its still not too late to donate to any of our runners. Make sure you support them in any way you can in the coming weeks by visiting their fundraising pages.
