Youth Ambassadors

Faizah

Faizah has found a love of cricket through Wicketz and hopes that other young people can find the same.

My name is Faizah, and I am 15 years old. In September, I'll be starting college, which I'm really excited for.

Some things I love doing in my free time are cricket, netball and writing poems. In addition, I found out about Lord’s Taverners through Wicketz at my school when I was in Year 9, and since then I’ve enjoyed playing it. This experience allowed me to gain several opportunities, such as playing against other schools and even going on a residential trip.

I want to become a Youth Ambassador because I want to help other young people become more confident in the sport and trust their ability more. Furthermore, in my role, I hope to encourage more young people to play cricket and see how fun the sport is. The thing that I am most passionate about is learning the reason why people started cricket, as everyone has different stories, which is what makes cricket a fantastic sport.

A huge achievement I'm proud of is that, through cricket, I have improved both my cricket skills and personal skills such as team building, which showed me how meaningful a journey cricket has led for me.

"I would like other young people to know that their achievements are built on resilience and hard work, so if they believe that they can do this and put effort into it, they will surely achieve it, no matter when that is."
