Izzy
Izzy has a genetic disorder that causes developmental delays and learning disability, but since joining Super 1s in 2019, her life has transformed.
Izzy is 18 years old and plays for Super 1s in Somerset. She is still in school, but is planning to study animal care in college afterwards. Izzy loves being active and spending time with other people. She is an Explorer Scout and is an active member of several disability clubs, including a sport and social club with Bath Rugby.
Being at Super 1s has been transformative for Izzy. She has DDX3X Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes developmental delays and learning disability. Before she joined Super 1s in 2019, Izzy could not have imagined being fit, strong or physically active. Over the years and thanks to the Super 1s coaches, Izzy has gained skills, capabilities, confidence and coordination.
Izzy enjoys fielding best and loves to catch out batters, if she can. She really enjoyed taking part in the Somerset Cricket Leadership Academy and had an amazing time at a cricket residential. Izzy has made a lot of friends at Super 1s and has recruited friends to join too. The Bath hub is lively, friendly, fun and very inclusive.
As a Youth Ambassador, Izzy is keen to encourage more young people to get fit and healthy. She believes that inclusive sport does wonders for physical and mental health, as well as helping to build community and belonging.
