Matty
Matty has taken part in Wicketz for the last two years and has graduated from participant to coaching sessions at the Chesterfield hub and at his local cricket club. He was nominated for the Cricket Collective (Derbyshire) Youth Coaching Rising Star award due to his efforts at Wicketz, which he subsequently won last autumn.
Hi, I’m Matthew (Matty for short!). I am addicted to cricket, to be quite honest, playing for Chesterfield Cricket Club and Hundall Cricket Club.
Outside of cricket, I am the lead singer in a rock band called Earlybird. I partake in school productions every year, take singing lessons and enjoy playing an array of sports with my friends.
I became involved with the Lord's Taverners after my Wicketz coach proposed the idea of looking into becoming a Youth Ambassador. I am loving being involved, and even in the early stages it has helped me develop interview skills, question and answer skills and more. I can't wait to get into the full swing of the course!
I want to help as many people as possible get involved in cricket and thrive in a healthy environment inside the sport to ensure key developments in the sport are made. I hope that through this experience, those developments are made on and off the pitch.
