Sam
Sam has been a regular at his local Super 1s hub in Somerset for the last six years, and he thoroughly enjoys spending time at the County Ground in Taunton, home to Somerset CCC.
I am 17 years old, and I am about to start my final year of A-Levels in Cheddar, Somerset. I enjoy playing a musical instrument and watching Somerset County Cricket Club in all formats. My involvement in Super 1s came through the Somerset Cricket Foundation, around six years ago. Going to Super 1s regularly has enabled me to develop my coordination, confidence and social skills.
Being part of Super 1s has enabled me to develop my cricketing ability in a safe and supportive environment. Super 1s has provided opportunities such as participating in the ‘Scatterblast’ during the Somerset v Gloucestershire T20 and taking part in multiple Super 1s on-field demonstrations at lunch during Somerset’s County Championship fixtures.
Becoming a Youth Ambassador was appealing to me because I would like to create positive change through engaging with the community. By doing this, I hope to empower people of all abilities and backgrounds in realising their potential not only in cricket but in life.
I have a passion for making everybody feel valued and accepted; for me, it does not matter someone’s ability or their background. Giving people opportunities through inclusion brings me immense joy because when success or failure happens as a result of that opportunity, I realise that a bad chapter does not define a book.
