Norfolk Lord's Cookery Demonstration and Dinner.
City College Norwich was the venue for the recent Norfolk Lord’s Taverners cookery demonstration and dinner.
The Taverners and their guests were welcomed with a reception in the restaurant, before moving into the auditorium where Gordon Smart, Joint Chair of the Norfolk Taverners, introduced the evening. Galton Blackiston, Taverner and well known chef patron of Morston Hall in North Norfolk, gave a fascinating cooking demonstration of a few of the delicious dishes he serves at his restaurant. Wonderful combinations; an egg, still soft after several hours cooking, asparagus mousse and shavings of cured Kudu, delicious local lamb with black pudding and a wonderfully decadent strawberry tart. Galton was entertaining, informative and charmingly modest about his path from promising cricketer via a cake stall at his local market to success as a chef.
Guests were then served a wonderful seven course dinner at the Debut restaurant by the excellent team of chefs and front of house apprentices of the college. Everyone left very well fed, entertained and looked after, having clearly enjoyed their evening.
