Summer Luncheon at the Grand Hotel - Eastbourne
A total of £4,000 was raised at the 11th anniversary seaside charity lunch organised by the Kent & East Sussex Lady Taverners at Eastbourne’s Grand Hotel.
Actor Chris Ellison, famous for his role in ITV drama 'The Bill', was special guest at the event which attracted 170 ladies and businesswomen from the town and surrounding area.
It got off to a sparkling start with a champagne reception in the sunshine on the hotel lawn and the seaside-themed lunch, which featured the Grand’s take on fish and chips, included a light-hearted game of bingo and a raffle, which raised £1,700 towards the grand total.
Laura Collins, Chairman of the Kent & East Sussex Region, welcomed everyone to the event and said: “From small beginnings 11 years ago the seaside lunch has grown to become one of our major fundraising events and we are always grateful for the support we have received over the years. The focus has always been raising money whilst having fun, and once again the lunch was a great success and the money raised will go a very long way to supporting our aims.”
Jackie Webley, from the Grand Hotel, thanked Eastbourne-based wine merchants HT White & Co., who supported the drinks reception, the staff and local companies that donated prizes for the raffle.
