Nicholas Parsons CBE
Everyone at the Lord’s Taverners is saddened to hear of the passing of Nicholas Parsons, CBE.
Member number HM545 and President from 1998 - 1999, Nicholas has been a huge supporter of our fundraising events and work with disadvantaged and disabled young people since he joined the charity in 1964.
We would like to extend our condolences to his wife Annie and his family during this difficult time.
His energy, fun and enthusiasm for the charity will be greatly missed.
Nicholas played 85 times between 1965-2002 for our Celebrity Cricket XI.
He scored 618 runs at an average of 12.11 with a HS of 42.
With the ball he bagged 52 wickets at an average 28.00 with best figures of 3 for 5 and he took 14 catches.
After retiring from the playing field he was naturally a wonderful commentator.
Our Cricket XI was regularly treated to Nicholas on the microphone at games all over the country.
One his finest moments on the pitch for the Taverners XI came in 1989 when he clean bowled Australian Legend Dennis Lillee for 1.
Lillee was one of three victims that day that were part of his best figures for the Tavs.
