The road to Lord's starts here

Table cricket regional competitions return after three-year absence.

The home of Warwickshire CCC, Edgbaston, hosts the first of nine regional table cricket finals taking place across the country in the next three weeks, as young people with disabilities representing their schools look to book their place in the prestigious National Table Cricket Finals Day at Lord’s on 17 June.

This is the first time the national table cricket competition has been able to take place since 2019 due to Covid-19 bringing the annual competition to a halt early in 2020 just as county heats began.

Since then, table cricket delivery has only been possible intermittently in schools with lockdowns ensuring schools were closed altogether at times. But when open, many participants wouldn’t have had the access to the game and all the benefits it brings that they normally would have. With young people with disabilities being at risk and schools having to keep students in class bubbles, playing table cricket in the past three years has been a real challenge.

But on the back of a more regular table cricket schedule in schools since the start of 2022, county competitions returned this February and we’ve now reached the Regional Finals stage where 66 schools will be vying for their chance to compete for the national title at the home of cricket later this summer.

Good luck to all the schools, teachers and participants involved over the course of the next three weeks of competition, including some at international arenas such as Headingley and Chester-le-Street. The full list of regional heats taking place between 27 April-13 May can be viewed below:

27 April: West Midlands - Edgbaston Cricket Centre, Birmingham
