Sex and the City Afternoon Tea
The Hyatt Churchill Hotel have a regular afternoon event called Sex and The City Afternoon Tea. I thought I would co-operate with them to run a charity event one afternoon under this evocative title to raise money for the Lady Taverners. This idea turned out to be a great success. The characters in the TV show all had their favourite pastries and cakes and the Hyatt produced all of these for us which added to the fun.
I asked Jan Harvey to host the event, which she did amazingly well, and she also ran an excellent auction for us. We had Rigby and Peller giving a very informative talk on their lingerie and the right garment to wear for different occasions, while Red Leopard gave advice on colour co-ordination and clothing.
We had four Lady Taverners (including our chairman Marilyn Fry) modelling Eve Pollard dresses which were very well received. Eve gave Jan a dress to wear throughout the afternoon. We also accessorised the garments with velvet jackets, hats, handbags and jewellery which were on sale at the various stalls.
Our thanks must go to Joyce Hammond who kindly sponsored the event, even though she was far away soaking up the sun.
I am pleased to say the event was a great success and raised a reasonable sum of money for our charity.

Experience a fashionable, charismatic event at a stylish hotel with our Sex and the City Afternoon Tea! The “Sex and the City Par-Tea” includes savoury dishes inspired by the city of New York and include pastrami on rye, and New York bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Mini burgers and mini New York hot dogs with a light drizzle of mustard add a little Manhattan glamour.
On the sweet end of the spectrum, a selection of pastries have been created with each of the girls in mind. For Carrie, a pink stiletto; for Charlotte, a pink strawberry cupcake; for Samantha an appletini jelly in a mini martini glass; and, finally, for Miranda, glazed doughnuts.
During the afternoon you will be entertained by Rigby and Peller and demonstrations from Red Leopard who will advise you on colour, style, image, make-up, hair and shopping, enabling you to create your own unique look.
Indulge yourself in some shopping after watching a fashion show featuring Eve Pollard dresses, hats by Bonchi and jackets by Manijeh.
