West Kent Christmas Lunch

West Kent Christmas Lunch

Close on 200 guests attended our sell out Christmas lunch. Proceedings were started in true festive spirit by the choir of one of our partner schools (Broomhill Bank) giving a rousing rendition of popular carols, thankfully they were far better singers than us! We felt very honoured to welcome a 2012 Olympian (Hockey) Ashley Jackson and two Paralympians (Table Tennis) Will Bayley and Ross Wilson, who respectively won silver and bronze medals as well as becoming Taverner Sporting Ambassadors. Our National President then conducted an excellent Q&A with the boys who gave us a fascinating insight into competing in the 2012 games with the various ups and downs. Needless to say they received rapturous applause at the end of their spot.

We were then entertained by two of the finest professionals in the business Kevin Connolly (impersonator) and Miles Jupp(actor &comedian) whilst all of our VIP’s did a truly wonderful job special mention must go to Miles who despite facing major train and travel disruption battled on to attend our lunch, in the process having to sacrifice his lunch and do an immediate turnround once he’d finished to ensure he made his evening engagement. Real Taverner commitment and spirit!! Miles, thank you.

To top the festivities off our guests contributed many thousands of pounds to support both local and national children’s projects thanks to the charm and encouragement of our fine auctioneer from across the border Clive Emson.
