The Lord's Taverners East Midlands Eve of Test Dinner
May 24th saw a very successful Eve of Test Dinner at Trent Bridge. Hosted by Jonathan Agnew our new regional President in the East Midlands, we were treated to a wonderful evening in great surroundings. Firstly we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunny evening, yes we have had one in 2012, which allowed us to take pictures outside.
We thanked Repton School for their tremendous effort in raising £14,000 for The Lord’s Taverners. This came as a result of Jonathan and Marilyn Fry’s links with the school but these are links that we hope to build on.
Mid way through the meal we were then treated to Jonathan Agnew interviewing the cricketing legend that is Geoffrey Boycott. The room was hushed as Geoffrey responded to Jonathan’s questions. Everyone enjoyed the exchange.
After a fine meal provided by Trent Bridge Barry Norman then treated us to entertaining anecdotes about his time in the film industry.
This was one of our most successful fundraising events and thanks go to all involved as well as Marilyn Fry and Tom Rodwell Chairmen of The Lady and Lord’s Taverners who also attended.
