Presentation of nets to Thriplow CC
Lord's and Lady Taverners representatives Ross and Pauline Jakes, were welcomed byNicholas Cliffe, Development Director and Chris Neild, Chairman of Thriplow Cricket Club to the opening of their new outdoor nets facility on Sunday during a match with the Switzerland U15 team
Pauline gave a short speech emphasising her appreciation of the work being done at Thriplow to support the growth of junior and, in particular, girl’s cricket. TCC Chairman Chris Neild thanked the Taverners and commented that Thriplow is a successful village cricket club running junior teams at all age groups from U9 through to U15 level plus three adults sides in the men’s Cambridge leagues and a ladies team in the Cambridgeshire Women’s’ League. They provide opportunities in cricket for both sexes at all ages and for all abilities from those starting out in the game through to our regular crop of players in both the boys and girls county sides. The nets are now used most days of the week by their adult and junior teams and they were delighted that their new nets were made possible by funding from The Lords & Lady Taverners, South Cambridgeshire District Council and local donations.
The enjoyment and enthusiasm for cricket was evident to Pauline and Ross from both players and parents.
