Winter to spring: the Cheshire and North Wales Lady Taverners report

3rd Jun 2014

Cheshire and North Wales winter season kicked off with a block busting Christmas Lunch and Fayre at the Chester Racecourse on Wednesday 20 November. Over 240 ladies attended the event, which seems to be getting bigger and bigger each year! Live entertainment was provided by 'Paul Munro is Robbie Williams'; he certainly wowed the ladies singing all of Robbie's top hits. He made a huge impression; the youngest lady being 22 and a mature lady being 94, a great time was had by all who attended.

28 Christmas stalls adorned the venue with beautiful Christmas gifts and hampers. We were also delighted to see Dee Banks’ brand new minibus and the pupils we know so well. Dee Banks is an all age special school which caters for a wide range of special needs and learning difficulties. It’s always a pleasure to visit the local school, especially when they have their afternoon tea events. I am delighted to say the Christmas Fayre raised £8,500 for the charity.

Our Spring Lunch this year was held at Selfridges in Manchester on Wednesday 12 March. A double decker bus left Chester with 50 ladies and plenty of fizz to help them on their way. The lunch was a splendid affair with lots of French and Spanish inspired taster plates. The event raised £1,200.

Our next event is Royal Ascot Ladies Day at the Chester Racecourse Thursday 19th June; badges are available and include a fizz reception with a 3 course lunch, large screens, Tipster, Chester Bets, and a best hat competition. Our Christmas Lunch and Fayre will take place Thursday 20th November at the Chester Racecourse.
