Michael Buble wows the crowd at the Lincolnshire Lady Taverners Tribute Lunch

22nd Feb 2014

Late February saw the Lincolnshire Lady Taverners meet with their friends & supporters for a Tribute lunch at Laceby Manor Golf Club. Michael Buble entertained with his usual charm, aided by Neil Diamond, an unexpected bonus, but the highlight of the event was the arrival of young Jake Storr, who’d received a sports wheelchair the previous October. Accompanied by his grandma, who works with disability groups for the council, Jake (who attends mainstream school) was keen to personally express his thanks to Lady Taverners for his new freedom to participate in sports activities that his wheelchair has provided. Jan explained that Jake was born with cerebral palsy and had undergone many operations, resulting in limited ability to actually walk. She said that instead of football boots or cricket pads, to Jake his sports wheelchair was his sports kit, changing his life, giving him so much more self-confidence and self-esteem. With an engaging smile and cheeky grin, Jake even joined in the dancing despite being so outnumbered. Needless to say this was a real tear jerker moment, followed by a surge in raffle ticket sales!

He's hoping to attend the prize-giving at the Lincolnshire Lady Taverners charity golf day on Friday 27 June.
