Newcastle race day raises £4,000
The Lord’s Taverners recently held its second ‘race day’ event at Newcastle Racecourse which was a great success, raising around £4,000 thanks to the generosity of those who attended, especially the companies who so kindly sponsored the seven races.
Regional chair, Jamie Graham, commented: “We were very pleased to see a bigger turn out than last year and we are hoping it will become a regular date on the corporate calendar like the Lord’s Taverners Christmas Lunch is here in the north-east, where we regularly raise over £30,000.
“We were all well looked after by the racecourse staff who had arranged for the Lord’s Taverners distinctive striped branding to be sprayed onto the grass with sets of cricket stumps on show in the parade ring to mark the occasion, which was a really nice touch.”
