New President and Chairman for the Lady Taverners
Following the Lady Taverners General Meeting held on 25 April, we can announce that the new Lady Taverners President is the magnificent Soprano, Lesley Garrett CBE.
On becoming President, Lesley said: "As a Yorkshire woman who believes passionately in the power of sport and play to transform the lives of young people, I am thrilled to be taking on the role of President of the Lady Taverners – part of the Lord’s Taverners charity. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of performing at a variety of major sporting events and thus I have been able to indulge my love of sport, particularly cricket! I am honoured now to have the opportunity to work closely with those who use sport and play to inspire and improve the lives of disadvantaged and disabled young people and act as ambassador for the Lady Taverners, who are so well known for the fun they have whilst fundraising."
Whilst Lesley is in high demand at present on her tour, she will be making time to visit Lord's Taverners projects and programmes alongside Taverners events; upcoming confirmed engagements include the Table Cricket Finals at Lord’s on 24 June (for more information or to attend please contact Ana Hickey) and the House of Commons 2016 Celebration Evening on 30 June (for more information or to book please contact the events team).
We are also delighted to welcome Carole Garner as the new Lady Taverners Chairman. Carole is the successor of Carol Robinson, whose passion for helping disadvantaged and disabled young people has been infectious - a huge thank you to Carol for her unwavering dedication to the Lady Taverners over the past two years.
