Comedian Nish Kumar presents new minibus to Edinburgh youngsters
Young people at Tiphereth Camphill in Edinburgh have received a transport lifeline after being presented with a new Lord’s Taverners minibus by comedian Nish Kumar.
The new minibus, which was made possible thanks to support from players of the People's Postcode Lottery, will be vital for the young people at Tiphereth to get out and experience their local community.
Tiphereth is an independent Edinburgh-based community for people with learning disabilities and other support needs. It has three residential care homes and offers a wide variety of day services. By living, working and growing together, everyone at Tiphereth can experience a sense of belonging, making a meaningful contribution and enjoy lifelong learning.
Glenda MacKenzie, Fundraising Manager at Tiphereth Camphill said: “This minibus from the Lord’s Taverners will make a huge difference to Tiphereth’s young adults with learning disabilities, getting out and about on day service trips and care home holidays. Currently we have two very old and tired, small minibuses which means our members can’t all travel on outings and holidays together – they have to use different means of transport, which is not as good socially and obviously more expensive.
“Our Lord’s Taverners minibus will open up new horizons for Tiphereth and we’d like thank all the Lord’s Taverners fundraisers and players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for their donations and support in making this dream become a reality for our young people.”
Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally, and their support of the Lord’s Taverners has helped provide the new minibus for Tiphereth.
Clara Govier, Head of Charities of People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “The Lord’s Taverners make such a difference to the lives of so many through sport and their minibus programme and we are delighted that players of People’s Postcode Lottery are able to support them with funding.”
