Seashell Trust Presentation
This is the third bus that has been presented to the Seashell Trust. The North West Region has followed the work and growth of the Trust so avidly and with the buses they have enhanced the lives of so many young people. The last two buses have served the Trust well and between them have travelled over 300,000 miles with the students.
There are now 120 students looked after by the Trust mainly who have complex and profound learning difficulties. This new bus that was presented by Paul Walker and Sally Walker, and the Lord's and Lady Taverners Mary Leneghan, Eileen Fitzgibbon, Charlie Wormesley, and Georgia Morris has just had its first major outing to the Bendrigg Trust in Cumbria which as Dominic said today 'was a cracking success and the students loved it!'
On a regular basis the bus will be taking the students to Stockport Harriers for adapted triathlons, Wythenshawe Wheelers, SportCity for the Inter Specialist College indoor Olympics (organised by The Seashell Trust), Blackpool Pleasure Beach, National Trust properties, local parks and general curriculum activities. The Trust also arranges CAD (Children Able and Disabled Sports Programmes) every school holiday for over 750 families. The bus will be active again in escorting children who have no transport to the Trust to take part in the programmes and for activities when they are. The bus touches so many additional lives and has given the students, families and children on the CAD programmes so many opportunities. They have a full timetable for the bus already!
