New Lord's Taverners minibus for Bradfields Academy
Representatives of the Lord’s Taverners were in Chatham, Kent, this week (24 May) to present staff and pupils at Bradfields Academy with a new Lord’s Taverners wheelchair accessible minibus.
Bradfields Academy provides education for almost 300 students up to the age of 19 who experience a co-morbidity of complex learning disabilities and difficulties including speech, language, emotional, sensory, physical and autistic spectrum disabilities.
The new 16-seat wheelchair accessible minibus will be used to transport students to and from the local community where they can access sports facilities, life skills training and other curriculum based trips.
This minibus has been made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of Rotary South East, who raised £17,000 towards the funding of the new vehicle.
Principal at Bradfields Academy, Marie Sweetlove, said: “Bradfields is extremely grateful to the Lord’s Taverners and Rotary South East for the fundraising to enable us to have this minibus. This bus will be used for our students to access not only curriculum trips and local sports facilities but also special events and visits in the community which would not otherwise have been possible.”
