Table Cricket fixtures confirmed for 2017/18
The road to Lord’s starts next week for many young people taking part in our national table cricket competition, after fixtures were confirmed for the county heats to kick off the 2017/18 table cricket season. Fixtures run regularly from 5 December through to 6 April with competitions taking place all over the country - in 34 counties plus Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Wight.
Fixtures are taking place in some of the most iconic cricketing venues in the country, including Emirates Old Trafford, The Ageas Bowl, The SWALEC Stadium and Edgbaston culminating in a finals day at the home of cricket, Lord’s. These venues have seen some of the biggest moments in English cricket, and now young people from over 300 schools will be able to add their cricketing moments to the history of these grounds.
Last year’s winners Wilson Stuart School from Birmingham, who won a tight 2017 final by just 10 runs, will be back to defend their crown in 2018. Shawn Brittle, last year’s victorious team captain said, “I just love playing the game. It feels amazing to be national table cricket champions. I am extremely proud and couldn't have asked for a better team. It was just about being confident and believing in ourselves, and we did that."
The Lord’s Taverners Table Cricket programme, which is supported by Ford and the players of People’s Postcode Lottery, last year gave more than 7,000 young people with severe physical or learning disabilities the chance to compete and have fun, regardless of ability.
