New Articles of Association and Bye-laws come into effect
Following the recent Annual General Meeting (held 15 May 2025), we are pleased to confirm that the changes approved by our members are now officially in effect from 14 July 2025 onwards.
These important updates to our governing documents mark a significant step forward in ensuring that the Lord’s Taverners remains a modern, effective and inclusive organisation and allow us to continue delivering on our mission of empowering and positively impacting the lives of young people facing the challenges of inequality.
What do these changes mean for you?
Whilst many of the changes were operational in nature (for example, updating job titles to better reflect), some of these will have a more visible impact on your membership with us. Please read below for a summary of how your membership with us will be impacted:
For current members:
- The payment window for membership fees has been revised – the period allowed for payment of annual membership fees before a membership is considered to be lapsed has been shortened from six months to two months. This change ensures our records are kept up-to-date and supports the charities operational planning. Membership resumes on payment of fees.
- Current members agree to abide by our code of conduct.
For new members:
- New members will no longer be required to pay a one-off £50 joining fee, removing a barrier to access.
- New members will no longer need to seek a proposer to support their membership application, nor will their application need to be approved by a committee. This will streamline the application process and make it easier for new members to join us.
- New members will receive regular updates from us about upcoming events and charity information unless they specifically opt out of receiving our communications.
- New members will agree to abide by our code of conduct.
Once again, we’d like to thank all members who took the time to engage with our proposals and participate in the AGM – your support and commitment are vital to the charity and helps us continue making a difference in the lives of the young we people we support.
Full details of the approved changes can be found here, if you would like to read the full Articles of Association, Membership Bye-Laws or Code of Conduct, you can find a link to do so below. Minutes for the 2025 AGM are available on request.
