Table Cricket hits new heights in Cape Town and across the world

Cape Town is no stranger to thrilling cricket clashes, but the Mother City hosted a South Africa vs England challenge of a different kind on Tuesday (3 March) as legends from both nations played table cricket on Table Mountain.

Gordon is an experienced professional in the world of cricket and will provide a valuable skillset and knowledge base to the organisation – he took on a commercial leadership role at Durham CCC in 2001 before a 12-year stint as a senior executive at the ECB, and four-year term as Chief Executive of the very successful Somerset CCC. He now runs his own consulting business, Thinking Sport.

He has a great passion for cricket and shares our determination to maximise cricket’s impact on the communities it serves. We’re excited to see what we can work towards in the coming years as we strive to continue positively impacting the lives of young people with a disability and from disadvantaged communities through cricket across the UK.

The specialist cricket Trustee role Gordon takes on has been vacated by former charity President and long-term member Mike Gatting, following the completion of his term on the Board.

Our Chair, Lucy Pearson said: “I am delighted that Gordon is joining the Board of Trustees. He has a deep understanding of cricket and the county network, has held senior strategic roles at the ECB and cares deeply about Disability Cricket. His thoughtful, solutions-focused and pragmatic approach will enrich Board discussions and decision-making.”

“On behalf of the charity I’d like to say a big thank you to Mike Gatting for everything he helped us achieve as a Trustee. We’re incredibly grateful for his continued support as an active supporter and advocate of the charity.”
