HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's first Tavs engagement
Our new Patron witnessed Super 1s, Wicketz and table cricket before meeting our 2025 Super 1s Award winners
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh enjoyed his first engagement with the charity at the Oval this week, after being named as our Patron earlier this year.
The Duke watched on as young people from our Super 1s and Wicketz programmes took part in a unique session at the Oval's Ken Barrington Cricket Centre, before playing table cricket with four of our Youth Ambassadors.
Later in the day, His Royal Highness met our four Super 1s Award winners, Lucy, Ravi, Sebbie and Matthew who have all been recognised for their personal development and achievements on the programme.
His Royal Highness, who along with his brother King Charles III has also been a President of the Taverners, is very passionate about the positive impact and opportunity offered by sport.
The Duke’s patronage continues a long line of Royal support for the charity, following on from his father Prince Philip, The late Duke of Edinburgh, who became founding Patron and 12th man in 1950 – a role he held for 71 years.
