Rob's 16th Tavs marathon

Rob Ditcham is gearing up for his 16th London Marathon for the Tavs. With an incredible £100,000 raised since 2006, this year's run holds even more significance as he hits the roads of London alongside both his daughters, Olivia and Daisy.

We caught up with him ahead of the big race day to dive into all things London Marathon and discover the inspiration behind his unwavering support for the Tavs.

Please introduce yourself and explain how you first heard of the Tavs?
I became a Taverner some 20 years ago having been introduced to the charity by John Ayling.

Why did you choose to run the London Marathon for the Lord’s Taverners?
I was at a dinner at Lord's a little worse for wear and remarkably stuck my hand up to bid for a place in the 2005 London Marathon. No-one else of course bid for it.

What support have you received from the charity, and the team of runners in the build up to race day?
Great support from HQ and a real team vibe with the 60 odd runners this year.

What is it about our work that inspires you?
As a cricket fan it's lovely to support a charity that is close to a game I love.

Is this it or will you be back on Team Tavs next year?
This is not getting any easier! (See you at the start line next year Rob!)

What’s the first thing you’re looking forward to post marathon?
A pint of lager of course!

This year marks a significant milestone for our marathon team as it's the largest line-up yet, consisting of an impressive 67 dedicated runners. Each member has invested countless hours in rigorous training and tirelessly committed themselves to fundraising efforts, all in preparation for the memorable event ahead.

We would like wish #TeamTavs a huge good luck, and say a massive thank you for the tremendous amount of money you have all raised for the young people the charity supports. See you at the finish line!
