Girls' cricket

Since 2003 the Lady Taverners indoor (schools) and outdoor (clubs) girls’ cricket competitions have given over 130,000 girls the opportunity to enjoy competitive cricket, many for the first time.

The U11, U13 and U15 competitions provide a framework to play at both an informal and more competitive level, with a clear progression pathway to local clubs and development programmes.

Almost half of the current England women’s squad have developed through the competitions, including Heather Knight, Anya Shrubsole and Sarah Taylor.

Two days of competitive indoor cricket in May saw Hazelgrove Prep School (Somerset) and Ormskirk School (Lancashire) take the honours in the Lady Taverners U13 and U15 Girls Indoor Cricket National Finals.

In July, girls from across the country travelled to Grantham CC, Lincolnshire, for the Lady Taverners Girls National T20 national finals with J&G Meakin and North Devon claiming the top prizes.
