“I want to play for my country” – meet the Southampton state school cricketer aiming for stardom
Teenager Abdul Majid Karimi’s dream to become a professional cricketer began when he attended the 2019 ICC Men’s World Cup match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at the Utilita Bowl. With the help of Wicketz, he has been able to develop his passion and find a sense of community.
“Caj has been a valued member of the Trustee board during his time with the charity and a great sounding board for all of us,” explained Chair of Trustees Tim Luckhurst. “He has always put the young people we support at the forefront of his decision making and his knowledge of the wider sport, entertainment and television industry has been invaluable.
“On behalf of the Trustees I would like to a say a huge thank you to Caj for his dedication and hard work to support not only the continued growth and impact of our programmes, but also the wider transformational work of the charity.”
As an appointed Trustee, the nominations committee will now take the time to review the skill set on the board before its recommendations on the next steps.
Speaking about his time as a Trustee, Caj said: “The life-changing impact of the Lord’s Taverners has never been more important and over the past four years I’ve been very proud and honoured to be part of the amazing work and the progress we have made across the whole charity.
“The Taverners will always have a very special place in my heart, and I will continue to offer my support where I can, but the time is right for me to step down as a Trustee and I wish everyone associated with the charity every success.”
