A look back at a selection of events staged in September in years gone by from 1950-2025.

The month of September in previous years has seen a variety of events from luncheons and dinners, both nationally and regionally, galas, anniversaries, cricket matches and Lady Taverners events.

A total of 70 events this month have gone by in years on record, here are some of them listed with details.

23 September 1951 The Lord's Taverners First Annual Dinner. The toasts and speakers were John Mills, John Snagge, Martin Boddey, Denis Compton, and John Arlott.

20 September 1977 The Lord's Taverners East Coast Dinner at Winter Gardens, Cleethorpes.

24 September 1979 The Lord's Taverners Schweppes Cricket Awards at the Hilton Hotel, London (Anglo-American Sporting Club).

9 September 1983 The Lord's Taverners Hampshire Region Race Night at Wessex Hotel, Winchester.

1 September 1985 The Lord's Taverners Essex Region / SMMT Dinner at Cafe Royal, London.

3 September 1987 The Lord's Taverners Northwest Region Dinner at Crown Plaza Hotel, Manchester.

27 September 1988 The Lord's Taverners Brom Grubb Dining Club at Royal Air Force Club, 128 Piccadilly, London.

30 September 1980 The Lord's Taverners Yorkshire Regional Autumn Ball at Cutlers Hall, Sheffield. 

12 September 1992 The Lord's Taverners East Midlands Region Lady Taverners Italian Evening at Kegworth.

17 September 1992 The Lord's Taverners National Sporting Club Lunch in honour of Graham Gooch at Café Royal, London.

10 September 1993 The Lord's Taverners Summer Ball at Hotel Intercontinental, London.

13 September 2002 The Lady Taverners Crystal Ball at the Dorchester Hotel. The toasts and speakers were Rahael Heyhoe Flint, Dulcie Quinnell, Robert Powell, Neil Durden-Smith, Judith Chalmers. Cabaret Jo Pasquale.

13 September 2004 The Lord's Taverners Brom Grubb Dinner at Venetian Room, Langan's Brasserie, London. The toasts and speakers were Richard Shepherd, Geoff Cleaver, Richard Groom Chair of the Lord's Taverners, John Farmer.

18 September 2006 The Lord's Taverners 'An Evening of Spin' A Tribute to Jim Laker with the Surrey Cricket Trust at The Savoy, London. The toasts and speakers were Charles Colville, John Edrich, Mike Gatting, Richard Stilgoe, Christopher Martin-Jenkins and the 1956 Players, Jim Laker, Jo Rice, Nick Stewart, Bob Bevan.

30 September 2009 The Lord's Taverners Charity Challenge Golf Day in association with Wooden Spoon 25th Anniversary at Sand Martins Golf Club. Guests included Ken New, Tony Richards, Ian Robertson, and Chris Cowdrey. 

21 September 2011 The Lord's Taverners in association with Macquarie 'Macquarie Fast Bowlers Dinner'. The toasts and speakers were Mark Nicholas, Richard Stilgoe, Charlie Ross, Fast bowlers present were Curtly Ambrose, Andrew Caddick, Colin Croft, Alan Davidson, Joel Garner, Charlie Griffith, Darren Gough, Sir Richard Hadlee, Revd. Wes Hall, Michael Holding, Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Devon Malcolm, Glenn McGrath, Makhaya Ntini, Mike Proctor, Clive Rice, Andy Roberts, John Snow, Sir Garry Sobers, Jeff Thomson, Courtney Walsh and Bob Willis.

11 September 2015 The Lord's Taverners Sporting Chance Awards at Mansion House, London. The toasts and speakers were Manish Bhasin, Sir Michael Parkinson.

27 September 2016 The Lord's Taverners 'Legendary Wicket-Keepers Dinner'. The toasts and speakers were Chris Cowdrey, Sir Richard Stilgoe, Jonathan Agnew, Hassan Khan, Charlie Ross, Martin Smith Chair the Lord's Taverners.

27 September 2018 The Lord's Taverners 'Legendary England Test XI Dinner'. The toasts and speakers were Chris Cowdrey, Sir Trevor McDonald President the Lord's Taverners, Mark Nicholas, Hugh Edmeades, David Collier Chair the Lord's Taverners. The Cricketer Readers' England XI Graham Gooch, Alastair Cook, Joe Root, David Gower, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Botham, Alan Knott, Jimmy Anderson, Darren Gough, Bob Willis, Graeme Swann.
