When Phong (15) started attending Wicketz sessions in July 2019 he was very shy and lacked self-confidence. After attending regularly he has come out of his shell. He now always asks questions and tries new skills, things that have developed his confidence in speaking English.
Young players share their personal experiences, highlighting the supportive atmosphere, skill development, and newfound confidence they gain from being part of an all-female cricket community.
Many of the girls from our Wicketz hubs in Yorkshire were previously hesitant to engage in sports, but after joining Wicketz they have found inspiration and camaraderie in the programme, illustrating the positive impact of increased female representation in cricket.
