Lord March's Racing XI: 166 all out
The Lord's Taverners XI: 133 all out
Lord March's Raching XI won by 33 runs
Once again the Taverners enjoyed a wonderful day out at Goodwood, which began with lunch and an afternoon of racing. Then it was down to the cricket field in front of Goodwood House to take on Lord March’s XI, a team made up of talented owners and trainers who proved more than useful at a game of cricket.
The Lords Taverners assembled a strong side made of celebrities and cricketers, which on paper should have won this contest. However, batting first Lord March’s XI got 166 all out in 18 overs. Raj Maru and Charlie Oldham were the most successful bowlers with 2 wickets each.
The Taverners decided to pack the top of the batting order with the Celebrities in hope of reaching the require target at a cantor. But at 25 for 5 this tactic was not working and it was left to Paul Taylor with 31, Gus Mackay 48, and Raj Maru 19 to get within reach before the innings ended on 133 all out in 18 overs.
Our thanks go to everyone who made it an enjoyable day for all involved.
