The Lady Taverners Fashion Experience
The Kent & East Sussex Lady Taverners committee decided to hold a fashion show as one of their 2012 fundraiser. This took place in two parts: one to hold a model competition to find the Face of the Fashion Show and a show its self. To launch the whole event a cocktail evening was held at the Hotel Du Vin on November 10th 2011, which also raised money. The competition was launched that evening and after a number of entries we held our shortlist judging at the High Rocks on 8th February 2012.
Due to unforeseen circumstances at the venue that had been first booked for the fashion show and with just a month to go had to find another venue, very luck for us The Old School House at the Brew House Tunbridge Wells was free to hold the afternoon fashion show followed by afternoon tea. This venue turned out to be perfect for a Lady Taverners fundraising event.
As the fashion was to be held in the High Street area the committee decided to use only the businesses in the High Street. For the clothes these were kindly supplied by La Belle Femme, Any Occasion & Caroline Charles, Hair Lionel Shell, make-up Space NK and goodie bags Champneys.
The show was a sell out! Doors opened at 2.30pm with a glass of wine on arrival for 3pm start. Kent & East Sussex Chairman Laura Collins opened (and modelled) the show with Lady Taverner’s member and actress Barbara Thorn gave the commentary throughout.
After the ten scenes 35 minute show, The Brew House served a delightful afternoon tea, then to round the afternoon off the raffle was drawn. The afternoon raised around £800.
The Brew House was a great place to hold the event, thanks to Melissa and her team for all the work on the day, anything we asked was never too much trouble.
The Kent & East Sussex Lady Taverners will be holding a second event at The Old School House on 25th October 2012, Calendar Girls Afternoon Tea with Ruth Madoc and friends........... Watch this space!
